Dear AutoCAD VAX Customer: Autodesk offers the widest selection of operating system and platform support in the CAD industry. Given the volatile nature of the computer industry, Autodesk must regularly re-evaluate the commercial viability of each platform version of AutoCAD. The decision to continue support for any given version of AutoCAD is based on customer demand for the product. Based on lack of customer demand, Autodesk has decided not to develop new releases of AutoCAD for the VAXstation. Autodesk, along with our Authorized AutoCAD Dealers, will continue to support AutoCAD for VAX through October 31, 1993. All AutoCAD VAX customers existing as of the date of this letter are offered a FREE platform exchange to any other platform available at the same release level. Your current choices of AutoCAD Release 11 include: DOS 386 Apple Macintosh Silicon Graphics IRIS Indigo Sun SPARCstation Hewlett-Packard 9000 Series 700 Digital DECstation IBM RISC System/6000 Windows (requires DOS 386 and the additional $99* AutoCAD Extension for Windows purchase) (Note: Please check with your Dealer for specific information about hardware models supported.) Also, we're excited to announce that Release 12 for DOS 386/486 and Sun SPARCstation are now available, and Release 12 for DECstation ULTRIX will be available shortly; if you wish to upgrade to Release 12--no matter what version number or platform you're using--you can do so for just $500. Customer satisfaction is our primary concern here at Autodesk. Please do not hesitate to contact your Authorized AutoCAD Dealer or Autodesk directly, at 800-445-5415, if we can aid you in making this transition. Sincerely, Richard C.
